The Milton by-election is getting closer and Elections Ontario is reminding residents of important dates.
Advanced polling begins on Sunday, April 21st and will run until Friday, April 26th. Voters can also cast their ballot in person at their returning office up until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1st. For specific dates, times, and locations, click here.
Eligible voters who are on the Register should have already received their voter information card with information on when, where, and how to vote. Register here by Monday, April 22nd to receive your voter information. Voters who have not received their voter information card can still vote with an accepted piece of ID.
The full list of candidates has officially been announced for Milton as well. Nine candidates and seven parties will appear on the ballot for Milton:
- Progressive Conservative – Zee Hamid
- Ontario Liberal Party – Galen Naidoo Harris
- New Democratic Party – Edie Strachan
- Ontario Green Party – Kyle Hutton
- New Blue Party – John Spina
- Ontario Party – Frederick Weening
- Family Rights Party – Tony Walton
- Independent – John Turmel
- Independent – Arabella Vida
We have reached out to each candidate about discussing their platforms/campaigns and a number of Milton-specific issues. Interviews will be published here starting next week. These will be published on a first come, first served basis.
An all-candidate by-election forum will be held on Thursday, April 25th by the Canadian Federation of University Women. That will take place at the Milton Sports Centre inside the banquet room.
Important Dates for Voting:
- April 3rd to April 26th – Submit your application to vote by mail by 6:00 p.m. EST on Friday, April 26th. Apply online or download an application at elections.on.ca.
- April 4th to May 1st – Vote before election day at your returning office until 6:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, May 1st. Visit elections.on.ca for more information.
- April 21st to April 26th – Vote at an advance voting location. Visit voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca for specific dates, times, and locations.
- April 21st to May 2nd – Use assistive voting technology at your returning office or by appointment on election day.
- May 2nd – Vote on election day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST. Visit voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca for your assigned voting location.
