We have eight days until the Milton by-election!
There are nine candidates from seven parties that have thrown their hat into the ring. Leading up to election day, we’ve reached out to each candidate to learn more about their platforms. Those interviews will be released daily on a first come, first served basis.
We spoke with Arabella Vida, an independent candidate for Milton. Here’s our interview:
INT – Alright, give me an elevator pitch for your platform/campaign.
INT – Looking at issues that affect residents, a big one for people is transit. We’ve been discussing the potential of all-day, two-way GO service in these interviews. Where do you stand on transit in Milton as a whole?
INT – You touched briefly on education in your first response. Parm Gill, when he served as MPP, he always talked about his efforts to bring new schools to Milton. What are your plans for education should you win this election in May?
INT – Many local groups are working to fight back against environmental issues in Milton. Specifically the CN Intermodal Hub, which is more of a federal topic, but also the Campbellville Quarry. Do you plan on addressing these concerns and helping these residents with their cause?
INT – So, you mentioned housing earlier. The provincial government has issued a growth mandate, which is forcing Milton and Halton to reach a certain population number by 2051. A lot of people have opinions on growth and development, whether it be positive or negative. Adding on to your thoughts on housing, what’s your stance on development, and rapid development, here in Milton?
INT – At the end of all of my interviews, I always ask the person if there’s anything they’d like to add, especially if I missed something. Is there anything from your platform/campaign that you’d like to add?

Again, these interviews will be released daily on a first come, first served basis ahead of election day on Thursday, May 2nd. If we do not publish an interview with a candidate ahead of that date, it’s because they chose not to accept our invitation. All interviewed candidates will be asked the same questions and provided with the same opportunity to share their opinions.
