The Ontario government has called the by-election for Milton.
“Under the Election Act, elections must be called on a Wednesday and held the fifth Thursday after the date of the issue of the writ. Voting day will be Thursday, May 2nd.”
This by-election is happening after Milton MPP Parm Gill resigned from his role in January. He will join Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party in the next federal election, running against incumbent Milton MP Adam van Koeverden.
Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives named former Milton Councillor, Zeeshan Hamid, as their candidate for this by-election.
The Ontario Liberal Party named Galen Naidoo Harris as their candidate. He is the son of former Milton MPP Indira Naidoo-Harris, who held in the position 2014-2018.
EDIT – The Ontario Greens and NDP have announced their candidates for the upcoming by-election.
