A Halton resident is being recognized by Parkinson’s Canada.
Kevin Farmer held a 12-hour drum-athon last summer to raise money for Parkinson’s research. myFM News covered Farmer’s event back in September.
He has now been given the Super Walker of the Year award for his efforts.
Farmer’s father has been living with Parkinson’s disease for 16-17 years. He raised $10,700 through his Drums for Parkinson’s event to help find a potential cure for his dad.
He provides an update on his father and says he’ll even be a part of this year’s version.
The people at Parkinson’s Canada were ecstatic when they heard about the Drums for Parkinson’s event, helping out in any way they can.
Farmer is prepping a 12-hour set list with lots of surprises this summer. He says he learned very quickly last year what to do and what not to do. He’ll be incorporating more live music with different bands playing along virtually with him. He plans on doubling his total last year, setting his goal at $20,000.
Drums for Parkinson’s will take place on Sunday, August 29th. You can follow along on Facebook and Instagram. A website will up-and-running in the near future.
