For the second day in a row, the Region of Halton is reporting four more dead Halton residents.
The deaths bring the Region’s total up to 127. Three of the deaths were Halton Hills residents (28 total) and the other death was an Oakville resident (44 total). Milton and Burlington both remain at 27 deaths each. Since December 31st, there have been 19 reported deaths from COVID-19 in Halton – it’s January 6th.
Across Halton, there are 95 new cases. The total is now 6579 cases. With 5693 resolved cases and 127 total deaths, Halton is at 759 active cases – two more than yesterday.
In Milton, we have 26 new cases. The total is now at 2033 cases. With 1767 resolved cases and 27 deaths, Milton is now at 239 active cases – six less than yesterday.
Looking at Milton’s ongoing outbreaks:
- Since November 13th, Allendale has had 89 cases. 60 have been residents, 15 have been staff members, two are unspecified, and twelve are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been 19 reported deaths in the LTCH associated to COVID-19. All 19 have been residents.
- The Milton District Hospital has had an ongoing outbreak since December 12th. Since then, there have been 17 reported cases. eight have been residents, three have been staff members, and six have been ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death at the hospital associated to this specific COVID-19 outbreak. The person was categorized as a resident.
- Martindale Gardens first reported an outbreak on December 14th. Since then, seven cases have been reported. Two were residents at the retirement home, three have been staff members, and two are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been two deaths. Both deaths were residents.
- The most recent outbreak in Milton is at Revera Birkdale Place. Since December 16th, there have been 54 cases reported. 39 of the cases have been residents, nine have been staff members, three are unspecified, and three are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
Below are the numbers for Ontario, including 3,266 new cases province-wide. A total of 200,626 people have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in the province.
