Milton MPP Parm Gill has released the letter that he has sent to the Prime Minister requesting that the CN Intermodal Hub be rejected.
The CN Intermodal Hub is a controversial project that is planned, but not yet confirmed, for a large area of land generally around Britannia Road and Tremaine Road.
In a recent interview for ‘This Week in Milton’, Town Councillor Sameera Ali says the project is welcomed in Milton, but not in the area that CN is planning to build. That viewpoint has been echoed by other Milton Councillors, citing the use for intermodals – just not when surrounded by established residential neighbourhoods.
In MPP Gill’s letter to Prime Minister Trudeau, he says “The community, the Municipality and the Region have been very clear: they all reject this intermodal at the proposed Milton location.” He adds that “the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) panel confirmed that there are serious health concerns if it were to be located adjacent to homes, schools and greenspace.”
The letter is also addressed to:
- Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Jonathan Wilkinson;
- Minister of Transport, Marc Garneau;
- Milton MP, Adam Van Koeverden;
- Halton Regional, Chair Gary Carr;
- Mayor of Milton, Gordon Krantz.

Despite the residential backlash, CN Rail has remained vigilant about building the Hub in that area. You can read their side of the issue here.
