There will be a Black Lives Matter Protest in Milton this weekend.
It will be taking place on Saturday, June 6th from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the corner of Thompson and Derry.
Organizers are asking that you wear a mask to protect yourself and others.
Earlier this week, the Halton Police and Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz released statements regarding social injustice.
Halton Police have said that the death of George Floyd had rocked them to the core; meanwhile, Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz recognized the role that elected officials have in creating a complete community.
“I want to acknowledge that as a community we must recognize the injustice occurring in society. In Milton we pride ourselves on inclusion. We must constantly be committed to this conversation, especially in our roles as elected officials, as we approach decision-making and public policy so our racialized communities see themselves and are reflected in how we build a complete community. You must feel safe and welcomed to work, live and play in Milton,” says Mayor Krantz in a statement.
