A Britney Spears biopic is reportedly in the works!
The genre has been on a roll as of late, what with Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and loads more all getting their own award winning films.
Who would you like to see as the focus of a new biopic movie?
My pick: Kurt Angle. I know, I know. Of course the big wrestling fan chooses the professional wrestler. But, the story of Kurt Angle is a fascinating one. He wasn’t an elite high school wrestler, but he progressively improved over his college career. He starts the trials for the Olympics, and the man training him was murdered. Angle continues his training at a different facility, ends up breaking his neck, and still goes to compete at the 1996 Olympics.
Guess what? He wins gold… In wrestling… with a broken neck!
He becomes a national celebrity, eventually transitioning into professional wrestling where he takes just six months to make the transition, and proceeds to win the WWF Championship the following year. Many call him the greatest professional wrestling rookie of all time. He’d break his neck a few more times, get hooked on painkillers, ride that rollercoaster until his body broke down entirely. He’s sober now, and seems to be living a good life, but I think his whole story is fascinating.

ICYMI – Annual car show returning to Downtown Milton
Get ready to spend a fun day in the sun surrounded by a bunch of classic and unique cars! The ‘See You in September’ car show is returning to Downtown Milton. There will be the cars, along with live music, food, activities, and more. Families are invited to hang out and enjoy everything being offered. It’s on Saturday, September 14th, starting at 4pm, right on Milton’s Main Street.
Daily WTF – Keanu Reeves to Make Broadway Debut in ‘Waiting for Godot’
Keanu Reeves is set to go Broadway, and he’ll have a familiar pal by his side. Reeves and his ‘Bill and Ted’ co-star Alex Winter will star in a Broadway rendition of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’, one of my personal favourite plays. It features two people waiting for this person named Godot, but they don’t know why or who Godot truly is, with many speculating the pair are in purgatory and are awaiting their sentencing by God. Could you imagine this play, performed by Bill and Ted, on Broadway? That’d be a “most excellent” rendition. It’s expected to hit the stage in Fall 2025.
Daily Did You Know – Share your thoughts and help shape Milton’s future
Milton has changed a lot of the last 30 or so years, and it’s set to change even more in the next 30. The Town of Milton is tasked by the provincial government with growing by a significant amount by 2051, and so they’re putting together an Official Plan for this growth. You can share your thoughts and opinions on the matter, as the Town will be holding several information sessions over the next few weeks. An online one will be held on August 22nd, while an in-person session is expected for next month. If you have lots of opinions on how Milton should development over the coming years, here’s your chance! You can be a part of the change!
Oakville man becomes millionaire with lottery win
It must be a lot of fun to win the lottery… Can’t wait to do that! For Oakville’s Edward Maj, the wait is over for him. He won $1 million last month when he matched all seven Encore numbers in a Lotto 6/49 draw. It wasn’t shared what he’s doing with the money, but he’s an older man so I’d imagine it will go far in his retirement. Good for him! His winning ticket was purchased at Starsky Fine Foods on Dundas Street in Mississauga.
GOOD NEWS – Lost dog travels 250 km to return home in Karnataka village, locals hold feast
I want you to imagine getting on the highway and driving for two and half hours in either direction. That’s how far away a dog was lost in India. Maharaj the black dog was 250km away from his home, and managed to somehow find his way back to his village recently. When he arrived, the people of Yamagarni rejoiced and decided to celebrate the moment with a feast. A jubilant crowd paraded Maharaj around the village and covered him in garlands. He ate lots that night, and that is some good news!
Maya Rudolph will return to ‘SNL’ to play Kamala Harris through 2024 election
The US federal election has been a dumpster fire so far, but there is some saving grace. With the announcement of President Joe Biden no longer running for a second term this fall, many wondered who will be us replacement for the Democratic Party. It seems that person will very much be his Vice President, Kamala Harris. With her back in the public eye, it has been announced that Maya Rudolph will return to her old stomping grounds and portray Harris on ‘Saturday Night Live’. It’s a role that has earned Rudolph awards for her comedic performance. The show is in between seasons right now, but Season 50(!!!) of SNL will start next month. Can’t wait!
Hollywood legend Tom Cruise ‘to star in Paris Olympics closing ceremony’
The Paris Olympics will have a special guest star for their closing ceremony. Paris is hosting the 2024 Summer Games, but the torch will be past to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Games. With the City of Angels hosting the Olympics, it seems they’re putting a Hollywood spin on the events. Later this month, Tom Cruise will appear at the Paris Olympics, and he’s expected to do a big ‘Mission Impossible’ stunt in front of the live crowd. It’s believed a portion of it will be pre-taped, and it’s expected he might even use a stunt actor for safety reasons. But, if you’re planning on watching the closing ceremony on August 11th, expect to see Tom Cruise doing something crazy… That crazy wacky guy Tom Cruise.
Squid Game Season 2 release date out, Season 3 coming in 2025 on Netflix
Squid Game was one of the biggest things on the planet back in 2021. It was an outright cultural phenomenon at a time when people couldn’t necessarily leave their house. In the years since, Netflix has created and released a reality television show version of the series, which featured hundreds of people performing the stunts in Squid Game season 1. Season 2 has been in the works, and we have confirmation on a release date! Squid Game season 2 will come out this December on Netflix. Afterwards, you can expect a third (and final) season of the series to be released next year. There’s also expected to be a second season of the reality show, so get ready for A LOT of Squid Game in the coming years.
