ICYMI – Another local hospital has received a major donation
A big donation has been made to the Georgetown Hospital. Last month, the Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association presented a cheque at the annual General Meeting. It was for $65,000. The money will be used to purchase new equipment for the hospital.
Daily WTF – Man stopped at customs with 100 live snakes down his pants
I’m a few days away from getting on a plane, and you know what I likely won’t have on me? 100 live snakes! A man trying to smuggle snakes into mainland China can’t say the same. He was recently stopped by customs for an inspection. Officers found six canvas drawstring bags sealed with tape in the pockets of his pants. Inside were more than 100 snakes. The man has been arrested.
Daily Did You Know – There will be a Pride Parade in Milton this weekend
A Pride Parade is being in Milton this weekend. It’s being held by PRISM Halton. They’re hoping it’ll be even bigger and better than last year. The second annual Halton Pride Parade will be this Sunday along Milton’s Main Street. There will be a vendor market open at noon, with the parade starting at 2:00 p.m.
Milton Mayor Gord Krantz voices displeasure over CN Hub and Milton Chamber in fiery letter
Gord Krantz is not too happy with the Milton Chamber of Commerce. He issued a fiery letter recently that was sent to all Chamber members. It regarded the proposed CN Intermodal Hub. Mayor Krantz addressed the environmental and health concerns of the possible hub, citing a number of reviews that have been done. The letter addressed how Milton’s Chamber has been very hesitant to denounce the potential development, and wants them to stand alongside the Town and the community. We’ll see if anything comes from it!
Brothers rent billboard, start TikTok account to help their brother find ‘love of his life’
You might have a friend or family member in your life who, despite all of their positives, is struggling to find love. Well, two brothers in Colorado have decided to do something for their other sibling. 34-year-old Chris Cooke was about to give up on love when his twin brother and younger brother made the move to intervene. In a sign of ‘Brotherly Love’, the duo purchased a billboard to promote their brother, and have started up a TikTok account as well. The goal is simple: Find Chris the love of his life. Their initiative has gone viral online, and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. If you’re single and would like to give a Colorado man in his thirties a shot, just head to FindChrisLove.com. He’s a handsome dude!
GOOD NEWS – The table tennis star making her Olympic debut at 58
In most sports, you hit your physical prime in your mid-twenties. For first-time Olympian Zhiying Zeng, she’s hitting hers at 58-years-old. The woman has had Olympic dreams since the 1970s when training for table tennis in China. She left the team in 1986 and has lived in Chile ever since. She will now be among the group heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics later this month after taking the sport back up. Her new home country of Chile helped realize a 50-year-old dream… And that’s some good news!
Katy Perry Announces New Album
We finally have the details on Katy Perry’s comeback album! Millennials everywhere are hoping Perry can hit this one out of the park. She’s been pretty quiet in the music scene the last ten or so years, especially after spending a lot of her time as a judge on American Idol. Her new album, called ‘143’, will be released this September. This will either be the Katy Perry comeback you didn’t know you needed, or it could be the official end of Katy Perry as a hitmaker… Both are VERY interesting outcomes.
Pat Sajak Is Returning as Host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ show
Well, that didn’t take too long. Pat Sajak is already coming out of retirement, and he’ll be hosting Wheel of Fortune… Kind of. Reports have confirmed that despite his very public retirement, Sajak will not be giving up the wheel just yet. He’s officially been replaced by Ryan Seacrest on the main ‘Wheel of Fortune’ show, but Sajak will be returning to host ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’. It’s a part-time gig that will only air episodes on Monday nights that don’t have NFL games on. They’ll first start playing this October. Should be fun to see Sajak back in the saddle… Even if he JUST left.
Viral Onion Coffee Trend
How do you take your coffee? Maybe some milk and sugar? Cream and honey? Do you like it just plain and black? How about some green onion on top? Yes, that is a thing. It’s the latest coffee trend. It’s making the rounds online after becoming very popular in China. People are trying it out, cutting up some scallions and putting them in a cup of iced coffee. Reviews have been mixed. Much like coffee itself, it’s probably an acquired taste. I once dated a girl whose whole family would put pieces of cheese in their cups of hot chocolate. Google says that’s a Colombian thing, which tracks! I gave cheese in my hot chocolate a try, and I’ll give green onions in my coffee a try… Why not!
