Halton Healthcare has announced that another one of their hospitals has received a significant donation.
At the 65th Annual General Meeting in June, the Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) presented Georgetown Hospital (GH) with a cheque for $65,000.
The Annual General Meeting celebrated the accomplishments, commitment and support of the GHVA’s volunteers over the past year, and provided the opportunity to honour volunteers for their years of service.
“Volunteers are an integral part of Georgetown Hospital, contributing to the delivery of high quality services and compassionate care provided to our patients and their families,” notes Monica Bettazzoni, Interim Chief Operating Officer, Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. “This year, we were delighted to add new volunteer services, which advanced the support available to patients and their families in hospital. Specially trained volunteers are assisting in the newly launched Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), which aims to prevent delirium and functional decline by keeping hospitalized adults physically and mentally active. Volunteers were also introduced to Day Surgery, where they assist patients with information, wayfinding and comfort measures.”
In the spring, Milton’s hospital received a similar donation through the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary.
The donated funds will be used to support the Georgetown Hospital.
“What better way to celebrate the GHVA’s 65th anniversary than by donating $65,000 to support our local GH,” says Allan Welters, GHVA President. “The GHVA’s financial contribution continues to make an impact at GH. This past year, as always, the GHVA remained dedicated to their fundraising activities, which include the Gift Shop, vendor program, poinsettia sale and 50/50 draw. I am extremely proud of all our Volunteers for helping to achieve this.”
Halton Healthcare’s hospitals accept applications for new volunteers twice a year. Adults and youth looking to volunteer can submit an application online until Monday, August 12th. Click here for more information.
