What does the ideal working day look like?
A study out of New York found that it’s likely not the standard 9-5. Out of the 2000 people polled, 57% believe the traditional working day needs to be modernized.
On top of that, the majority of respondents would like to be paid more frequently. The most common pay periods are either every two weeks or twice a month. People opted for weekly paycheques when given the choice, and some preferred the idea of daily paycheques!
What’s your ideal working day like? Is it 9-5 Monday-Friday, or would you prefer something more flexible?
Let me know!

Daily WTF – 500 miles in a toy car: A Guinness World Record attempt from Jacksonville to Key West
When was the last road trip you went on? Did you make that trip in a car? You probably did! Two women are looking to do something different for their road trip, and in turn, set a world record. They’re driving from Jacksonville, Florida to Key West using toy cars. The trip has measured in at roughly 500 miles, making it the record for the “Longest Distance by Toy Cars.” In the process, the two will also be raising money for a local charity. It’s expected to last two months. In case you’re wondering, I looked it up: 500 miles is 804 kilometres. That’s slightly longer than a drive from Windsor to Ottawa… IN TOY CARS! Good luck, ladies… You’ll need it!
Someone in Ontario is renting out a bed at the top of a staircase for $500
The rental market continues to get weirder and more dystopian in Ontario. A listing on Facebook Marketplace in Inglewood (just outside Brampton) is going for $450. Sounds good, right? Looking at it, it’s just a queen-sized bed stuffed at the top of a staircase. You’d also be asked to chip in on utilities, effectively bringing your rent to roughly $500… For a bed! Placed at the top of a staircase! Listen, I like my parents, but I wouldn’t even want to sleep at the top of their staircase, let alone a complete stranger’s. Good luck to the poor soul that takes this offer… You’ll need it.
Daily Did You Know – Milton Legion honouring local veterans with new banner program

The Legion will put their legacy on a banner that will be displayed around town. You can expect these banners to go up in October, and remain up until the end of November. They will then return again in 2025.
This is how much you need to earn in order to buy a home in the GTA
Times have been hard for people in the GTA who want to buy a home but don’t have a high paying job or family money. A million dollars used to be a fantasy of luxury, and now it’s the standard. The average priced home is going for more than a million dollars all around the GTA. Ratehub.ca has released data that says if you want to buy a home here, you’ll need to have a household annual income of $214,100. That’s up $4000 since January, so hopefully you got that monthly raise you were expecting… That’s not the standard around the country, with many major cities coming at around $80,000 or less. If you’re hoping to buy a home without any help, and you don’t make six figures already, you might want to move. I’ll see you in the Maritimes!
Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent unite to honour Dr Dre
If you enjoyed the Super Bowl halftime show from a few years ago, you’ll be happy to know that Dr Dre recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was joined by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent. A big announcement was made at his ceremony, as well. Dre says Eminem will be coming out with a new album, which will be an interesting listen. That’s expected to come out later this year.
Costs for Toronto to host 2026 FIFA World Cup climb to nearly $380M
Every day that goes by means we’re another day closer to the World Cup taking place in Toronto and across North America. You might think this event will be an expensive endeavor, and it’s actually even more expensive than officials originally predicted. Back in 2018, Toronto Council was first proposed with the possibility of the World Cup being held in the city. They took part in the bidding process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and along with other North American cities, they won! Originally, the proposal was supposed to be around $30-$45 million – which is a lot of money for you or I, but it’s understandable to think having the World Cup in some fashion locally would bring in a lot more than that. Thing is, now six years removed from that first proposal, projections of the costs for the World Cup in Toronto have ballooned. What was once potentially $30 million has now turned into potentially $380 million! And if you think that’s ridiculous, also consider that this thing is still two years away, and the costs will likely continue to go up! But hey, good news: That’s Toronto’s problem. We might be in the GTA, but that’s not our municipality’s issue. Milton residents get all the benefits of the World Cup without having to spend a single cent… And that’s nice.
Good luck to your March Madness bracket!
March Madness is officially here! As of noon today, college basketball will be on television all day every day. 64 teams will strive to become national champions, and everyone and their mother has created a bracket to predict just how the tournament will go. Will any of us get it perfectly right? Not even remotely! If you get a perfect bracket this year, you could win upwards of a million dollars. So, good luck to you! Hopefully you win your office/family/friend/friend of friend’s pool. You’ll most definitely need it!
500K visitors expected in Kingston, Ont. for the total solar eclipse
If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate the solar eclipse, head to Kingston! The Limestone City is inviting anyone and everyone to celebrate the potentially once in a lifetime experience. On April 8th, the moon will directly cover the sun, and Kingston is expected to be in the path for a total blackout. The last total eclipse for Kingston to experience was roughly 700 years ago, long before it was ever Kingston, Ontario. It won’t be happening again anytime soon, either, as the next one to pass over the city is projected to come in 2399. So, unless you expect to live forever, head to Kingston next month and celebrate the eclipse with half a million people! It’s also a PA Day in Halton, so school’s out for the kids!
Woman Overcomes Teenage Pregnancy at 13 and Gets Her PhD The Same Day As Her Son
A woman has gone viral online after the story of her and her son getting PhDs on the same day resurfaces. In 2013, Vickie McBridge and her son, Maurice, became doctors. The story gets even more wild when you learn that Vickie had Maurice when she was 13 years old. The teen mom continued her life and managed to juggle schoolwork with motherhood. She eventually graduated high school, and then graduated college. McBridge was able to provide for her son Maurice through all this, and when it came time, the two of them got their PhDs together. The story was written about in a 2015 book, and has all the makings of a Hollywood movie. Good for them!
