Milton’s Legion branch is launching a new program that will honour local heroes.
It’s called the ‘Legacy of Honour’ banner program. Residents can submit an application to honour a friend or relative who served in the military. Their legacy will be highlighted on a banner, each one being placed around town.
President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136, Sarah Moore, says it’s about honouring local veterans.
If you’d like to participate, you can ask for an application by contacting the local Legion via legacyofhonourmilton@gmail.com. Moore says any costs will solely go towards installation.
The banners are expected to go up October 2024, and remain up until November 29th, 2024. They will then go up again in 2025. A renewal fee will be required after two years.
Moore adds that she’s very excited to see this program moving forward.
