Have you ever had a TV show/movie spoiled for you?
My wife and I have been watching a show together the last few weeks. It’s her favourite show, but she doesn’t realize that she unknowingly spoiled the ending for me years ago!
I don’t necessarily mind, but it has kind of made this last stretch of the show anticlimactic because I already know the ending…
Has this ever happened to you? What was the spoiler?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – This Milton road will be closed for the next two months
Like a match at WrestleMania, two ongoing road projects have collided here in Milton. Work has been going strong for the Britannia Widening Project, and same goes for construction along Fifth Line. They’ve met for a two-month road closure, with Fifth Line shutting down from Britannia Road to Lower Base Line. It should re-open mid-April.
Daily WTF – You Can Stay In A Literal House Of Pancakes
Looking for a unique vacation experience? Travel on down to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stay at the Eggo House of Pancakes. Today is National Pancake Day, and Eggo has started taking reservations for their new short-term rental. Comparable to the Taco Bell Hotel, you can book overnight stays at the themed building for the low, low price of FREE. It’s large enough to fit eight people, and reservations are available throughout March. You might want to book fast, as the Taco Bell Hotel sold out in just two minutes… There’s a chance this one’s already gone. People do love pancakes.
Cineplex has made nearly $40M from online ticket fees
The movie industry might be struggling compared to where it was 20 years ago, but Canadian company Cineplex has found another way to make money, it seems. In 2022, Canada’s largest theatre company implemented online ticket fees. The company makes an additional $1.50 on every ticket sold online (CineClub members excluded) and those fees have racked up to nearly $40 million. This has now led to a new lawsuit as the fees are called ‘deceptive’ for not being shown early in the ticket-buying process. What do you think? Do you have an issue with online ticket fees? How do you feel about Ticketmaster (who famously overcharge on a number of fees)? Let me know!
Daily Did You Know – International Women’s Day film event raising funds for Women’s Centre
You can watch a movie and raise funds for the Women’s Centre of Halton. A film screening is being held ahead of International Women’s Day next month. On March 4th, you can attend the Film.ca Cinemas in Oakville and see ‘500 Days in the Wild’. It’s the real journey of a woman travelling across Canada, sea-to-sea-to-sea. Portions of ticket sales will help the local women’s centre.
Annual road closure announced as local salamanders prepare for mating season
Love is in the air as the City of Burlington and Conservation Halton prepare for the annual breeding migration of the Jefferson salamander. The little amphibians will be crossing King Road on their way to find mates, and to help keep them alive, a road closure will be put in place next month. Residents can expect King Road to re-open April 2nd.
Series dubbed “next Game of Thrones” debuts with 100% Rotten Tomatoes score
It’s being hailed as the next Game of Thrones, and you can get in on the show early. The first two episodes of ‘Shogun’ debuted on Disney Plus in Canada on Tuesday. Taking place in the Feudal Era of Japan, the series adapts James Clavell’s Shogun novel, and dives into politics, war, and more in true Game of Thrones-esque fashion. It’s not just hype, either, as the show currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning every critic that has currently reviewed has given their thumbs up… a major rarity for the entertainment industry. Episodes will come out weekly – enjoy!
Teen who wears a size 23 shoe thanks basketball legend for super-sized donation
Watch out for the Shaq attack. Big Daddy Diesel, the Big Cactus, the Big Shamrock, he’s known by many names, but Shaquille O’Neal will always be known as a large man with a large heart. The basketball legend and current TV broadcaster is routinely seen around the world helping people in need in moments of spontaneity. One story that I came across last night was him helping a large Missouri teen find a pair of shoes that fit. I’m sure the 7’2″ man could relate, and so he gave Jor’el Bolden nearly 20 pairs of size 22 shoes. Having to be made custom, they cost more than $1000 US each. Shaq also sent new clothes and other items from his personal closet. Each gift arrived on Christmas morning, with Bolden sending a thanks to the man people call ‘Shaq-a Claus’. Talk about a merry Christmas!
Roll Up To Win is coming back!
You’ll soon be able to win with every coffee you order from Tim Hortons. Yes, Roll Up To Win is set to return for another year. Since COVID, Tims has moved away from the old coffee lids of yesteryear, and the game now lives entirely on the app. But you also get a chance to win with virtually everything in the store, so that’s fun! It starts on Monday and ends at the end of March. And hey, a Milton resident won a car a few years ago, so never say never when it comes to winning the big prizes!
Joe Biden Pledges $1.7 Billion to End Hunger Across U.S.
You know it’s election season when the US President starts using the big guns. With our friends south of the border having their election this fall, President Joe Biden has announced that his federal government will invest $1.7 billion to end hunger across the states. This will be added to the billions pledged for the same reason in 2022. The deadline they’ve set is 2030. If you’re wondering, the funding will be used to help non-profits who tackle food insecurity. Hopefully we see something like this in Canada! I know local charities like Food4Kids Halton and Food for Life would appreciate it.
Wendy’s will test surge pricing at some U.S. locations in 2025
The Frosty market at Wendy’s is about to get reeeeeeal volatile. The fast food chain was the number one trending thing on social media on Tuesday after it was reported they will test surge pricing in 2025. What does that mean? Prices for items will vary depending on their popularity and how in-demand they are. This method is used most-famously by ride-sharing app Uber. Let’s just say people did not take too kindly to the idea online. Thankfully, it’s only being tested in select US markets, but what do you think? Would you be okay with your Frosty and Baconator being different prices depending on the time, date, and location? I know I wouldn’t…
