It’s been 30 years since Friends made its debut on television!
To this day, it remains one of the biggest tv shows on the planet with the show reportedly making $1 billion annually for Warner Bros. through syndication and streaming. The cast apparently make $20 million a year because of this.
I was definitely someone who grew up watching the show, along with other 90s sitcoms like Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond. As a kid, Joey was definitely my favourite. That changed to Chandler as an adult. I’m also in the minority in that I like Ross… I feel like he gets a lot of flak.
Who was your favourite ‘Friend’?
Let me know!

ICYMI – Board game about Milton celebrates milestone after three years
It’s been three years since Milton-Opoly was first released, and it’s become a hit ever since! Creators Offset Media have announced that they just sold their 2000th copy of the board game, which is Monopoly with the streets and key sites based on our town. It includes places like Milton Memorial Arena, Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area, and Springridge Farm. And it’s not like Milton is unique in having this game. Offset Media is famous for making hundreds of these localized board games for communities across Canada, but it’s still pretty neat! Have you played Milton-Opoly yet? You can find the game for sale at Walmart stores, as well as online.
Daily WTF – Boy abducted from California in 1951 at age 6 found alive on East Coast more than 70 years later
In 1951, Luis Armando Albino was kidnapped while playing in a park in Oakland. He was six years old at the time. His family searched and searched, but as time went on, hope disappeared. That all changed recently. More than 70 years later, his biological niece discovered that he was still alive through an online ancestry test. Turns out, a woman abducted him from the park promising him candy. She flew him to the east coast, where he was raised by a family as if he were their own child. In all the time since, he served in the military, fought in Vietnam, and became a firefighter. He didn’t remember where he was originally from, but knew he still had family out there. When his niece reached out, he jumped at the chance to rediscover the family that he was taken from 73-years-ago.

“I feel extremely lucky”: Oakville man finally claims lottery prize from 2023
Every few months, OLG announces that someone still hasn’t claimed a major lottery win. People have a full year (365 days) to claim their lottery prize. If they don’t do so in that period, then the money disappears. Last year, a $70 million winning lottery ticket ran out of time, meaning one of the luckiest people on the planet didn’t get to cash in on that luck. An Oakville man almost had something similar happen to him, but thankfully, he checked his old ticket. Known simply as ‘Andrew O’, the 51-year-old won $100,000 in an Ontario 49 draw last November. He recently showed up at the OLG headquarters to get his big cheque. He plans to save and invest his winnings. Good for him!
GOOD NEWS – A grieving mum donated her young son’s heart. A year later, an extraordinary letter came
They say parents aren’t supposed to outlive their children. For Anna-Louise Bates, her son and husband were killed in 2015 when a careless driver struck their vehicle. The boy, Fraser, had his heart donated. One year after the accident and subsequent donation, Bates received a letter from a young boy named Roman. He had received the son’s heart, and because of that decision, he’s managed to live a healthy life. Anna-Louise and Roman’s family have grown close in the years since, and she even started a charity organization that discusses the relationship side of organ donation. Fraser might have died in that car crash in 2015, but his heart beats on… And that’s some good news.
Shred your documents and raise money for Crime Stoppers!
If you’ve got a whole bunch of paper documents that need shredding and no where to shred them, then head to the Halton Police Headquarters this weekend! They’re hosting a shred event on behalf of Crime Stoppers of Halton. I talk about this whenever these events come up, but most people don’t realize that Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization. They’re not a sector within the police force, they’re a charity that works alongside them. So, like any non-profit, they need donations to run well, and that’s where you come in. This Saturday, from 9am-3pm, you can pop by the Halton Police headquarters in Oakville and shred your unwanted papers. It’s a good way to make sure your documents get shredded properly to protect yourself from things like identify theft and financial fraud.
Earth will get a second “mini-moon” for 2 months this year
Look up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a mini-moon! Starting on September 29th, earth will get a second moon. It’s not actually a moon, but an asteroid that will be passing through. It’s expected to be up there for just under two months, finally disappearing November 25th. So, don’t freak out this weekend when you look up in the sky and there’s something else up there with the moon. It’s just an asteroid… Nothing to worry about… Nothing at all…
No, these viral purple apples don’t exist in Saskatchewan
For a solid minute last week, Saskatchewan became a hotbed for tourism worldwide! People were booking flights to the Canadian province because they saw images online of purple apples. According to reports, these vibrant purple apples were ONLY found in Saskatchewan, and taste like a combination of cinnamon and bananas. People were calling them ‘Canadian Grapes’ and wondering why they had never seen or heard of these before… Well, the reason why is, they’re fake! It’s been confirmed that the cosmically purple apples are not real, meaning you should not be using your vacation days to travel to Saskatchewan. There’s a lot of reasons to ‘Experience Regina‘, but purple apples are not one of them.
