How do you handle aches and pains?
This week was a reminder for me that I turn 30 soon. I managed to sleep in a strange position Monday night and have been dealing with a sore neck all week.
The first day, I took some pain meds. I’ve also been doing lots of stretching and massaging, and been going to bed early to rest up. It’s gotten better each day, but still sore!
How do you deal with aches and pains?
Any tips you can offer?
Let me know!

ICYMI – Milton Transit will be free this summer for local youth with library cards
Milton youths will be able to ride the bus for free this summer! Milton Transit and the Milton Public Library are once again teaming up for the Read and Ride program. Students 16 and under can ride for free as long as they present their validated library card. The program starts tomorrow with a launch event.
Daily WTF – 580,000 glass coffee mugs recalled because they can break when filled with hot liquid
You might have some faulty coffee mugs. Roughly 580,000 JoyJolt-branded “Declan Single Wall Glass Coffee Mugs” have been recalled. The reason why? They can break when filled with hot liquid. Keep in my mind, these are coffee mugs. The definition of coffee that I found online is “a hot drink made from roasted and ground coffee beans.” These mugs are incapable of doing the one thing they’re meant to do. It’s like a buying a brand new car that can’t move. If you bought these mugs, stop using them and claim a full refund.
Daily Did You Know – Donate to the Infant Food Bank this summer to win special prizes
The Milton Public Library is going to have a busy summer! On top of holding the TD Summer Reading Club, along with the Ride and Read program, the MPL will also take part in the Summer of Giving campaign. It’s a summer-long fundraiser where library visitors can donate items to the Infant Food Bank. Each time someone drops off items at any of the MPL locations, they get the chance to win a number of prizes! The campaign, along with the Reading Club and Ride and Read program, will launch tomorrow with a special event at the Main Library location.
HCDSB is the most energy efficient school board in Canada
The Halton Catholic District School Board is on top when it comes to saving energy. Sustainable Schools released their annual report, which looks at over 5000 schools from 72 school boards from across the country. Our local Catholic school board ranked #1 in being energy efficient. That’s up two spots from the year previous. Good for them!
Tim Hortons is bringing back four retro donuts across Canada next week
If you wish Tim Hortons would bring back certain donuts, you’re in luck! For their 60th anniversary, the coffee-chain has announced that customers will be able to get their bearpaws on four retro donuts, starting next week. This list includes the Dutchie and Walnut Crunch, as well as the Blueberry Sour Cream Donut and the Sugar Twist. All four will be available at all stores starting Monday, June 24th.
The ‘Taylor Swift Vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood’ Documentary
The battle between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun will be publicized in an all new two-episode documentary series. ‘Taylor Swift Vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood’ will cover how the longtime music executive purchased all of Swift’s masters, essentially profiting of her work without her consent. This led to her rerecording all of her songs over again, labelled as “Taylor’s Version” with each new album release. It was actually the best business decision for her, as all of her old songs became new again. They all charted with each release, each getting a second life. Over several years, her albums had reentered the current cultural zeitgeist and this led to her current tour, the Eras Tour, which has become the biggest music tour of all time and made Swift a billionaire. So, this docuseries will cover all of that, and a lot of the behind the scene stuff. It’s been released today on HBO Max, which is available through Crave in Canada. If you didn’t have any Friday night plans, you do now!
GOOD NEWS – Amazon is getting rid of plastic air pillows in North America
If you’ve ever ordered something off Amazon, then you’ve likely come across those plastic air pillows in the packaging. They’re to help with the delivering process, making sure anything remotely fragile doesn’t break on its way to you. You can imagine though, these plastic airbags are likely not great for the environment. That’s why Amazon has decided to do away with them, saying that 95% of these plastic pillows have been replaced with fully recyclable paper filler… And that is some good news – even if it is from a company like Amazon.
Queen Catalog to Be Acquired by Sony Music for $1.27 Billion
After years and years of considering the possibility, it has become official: Queen have sold their music catalogue. This is something that has been done by a bunch of big names over the years. Bob Dylan sold his music for $200 million; David Bowie’s estate sold for $250 million; Bruce Springsteen sold for $500 million; and even younger artists like Bieber and Katy Perry got in on it. And now, the remaining members of Queen have given in. They’ll receive $1.27 billion from Sony Music for all recorded songs. The deal doesn’t include live music, as the group is still touring. It’s the most for any music catalogue, believed to only be trumped by The Beatles when they decide to sell off their music. If you’re wondering, the amount will be split evenly among all original members, including the Freddie Mercury Estate. Good for them! $1.27 billion is a lot of money. You can imagine they probably have ‘We Are the Champions’ playing on repeat.
Kick Off Summer With New Netflix Popcorn
Netflix is expanding! Along with the shows, movies, and games, you can now get Netflix Popcorn… Yes, this is real. Announced this week, Netflix will sell multiple flavours, including Cult Classic Cheddar Kettle Corn and Swoonworthy Cinnamon Kettle Corn. Looking online, it looks like they’ll be available in Walmart, but it’s not clear if it’s only in the states. But, if you’re like me and you want to relive the joys of going to Jumbo Video to rent a movie and getting that massive bag of popcorn, Netflix has you covered!
