You can help local families in need with the Milton Public Library (MPL)!
They’re teaming up with the Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) for the ‘Summer of Giving’ campaign. Donations to the Infant Food Bank will give visitors the chance to win prizes from the library.
Executive Director with the MCRC Becky Andrade shares the items that are most in-need.
Items can be dropped off at any MPL location, starting Saturday, June 22nd. Participants will earn weekly entry codes for prize draws by making qualified donations at any library branch, promoting community support and engagement.
The MPL is running the annual Read and Ride program this summer, in partnership with Milton Transit. It’s a collaborative effort between Milton Transit and the MPL, offering free transit rides to youth aged 16 and under. Participants need to show a validated Milton Public Library card to the bus driver upon boarding. Free transit validation stickers will be available at all Milton Public Library branches from Saturday, June 22nd.
Also happening this summer is the TD Summer Reading Club. Students can participate throughout the summer break and earn points, which can be put towards prizes. Learn more here.
All three programs will launch on Saturday, June 22nd, with an event being held from 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 1010 Main Street East in Milton. Mayor Gordon Krantz will be present for opening remarks and the ribbon cutting to officially announce the program and activities. The activities for the day will start at 1:30 p.m., including both outdoor and indoor games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and various information booths for TD Summer Reading Club.
