Father’s Day is this weekend!
It’s a nice day to put the focus on the dads in our lives and thank them for their hard work. We do so by giving them bad ties and cheesy coffee mugs. What are your go-to gifts for dad?
For the dads: what would you like on Sunday?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Hundreds of Halton students to take part in annual Special Athletics Track Meet
Today is the Thirty-Seventh annual Special Athletics Track Meet. Over 500 local athletes with physical and developmental challenges are expected to participate in-person. That’s up from the 12(!!) that took part in the first event in 1987. They’ll compete in races, basketball, T-ball and more! It’s scheduled for this morning at Garth Webb Secondary School in Oakville.
Daily WTF – Indian doctor says he found part of a human finger in his ice cream cone
What kind of ice cream do you like? Some people like to go simple with straight chocolate or vanilla. Others like to get creative with their ice cream. I’ve recently discovered the pure bliss that is the Turtles Blizzard from Dairy Queen – that’s good stuff. I like ice cream with a bit of crunch in it, probably because I grew up getting Rocky Road ice cream with my mom. One person in India got a bit more crunch in their ice cream than they were expecting. A doctor ordered ice cream online. He began enjoying his treat when he felt something in his mouth… It was a human finger. It appears as though someone at the manufacturing company lost a digit and it went unnoticed all the way through to the customer. You’ve heard of Rum Raisin ice cream, well, this was Thumb Raisin.

Milton Winterhawks adopt Menace team name in pilot program
We’re talking about SYNERGY here, people. The Milton Winterhawks will undergo a rebranding with three of their teams this upcoming season. As part of a pilot program, these select U18 Winterhawks teams will become the Milton Jr. Menace. The goal is to strengthen the bond within the local hockey community. All participating teams will get all new equipment and uniforms covered by the Menace organization. If this rebranding goes well, we could see more the following year!
Quite the weekend for television
This might be the best weekend of television we’ll get all year! The latest season of Bridgerton just released new episodes; Disney+ is continuing its run of The Acolyte; House of the Dragon releases its first episode of season two this weekend; and, The Boys is back for its final season. Get some treats, shut the blinds, and enjoy this recent run of TV… it’s a good one!
GOOD NEWS – 98-year-old man whose liver was donated is believed to be oldest American organ donor
Are you an organ donor? 98-year-old Orville Allen was one, and his liver has gone to a good place. The United States war veteran and longtime teacher passed away recently after a good, long life. He was remarkably healthy at the time of his death, passing away after hitting his head from a fall. His liver was transplanted to a 72-year-0ld woman, reportedly making Allen the oldest American organ donor ever. The woman will now get a few more years of life all thanks to Allen, and that’s some good news!
Taylor Swift says Eras Tour will end in December
You could say it’s the end of an era! Taylor Swift has confirmed that this December will be the end of her Eras Tour. It’s considered the greatest musical tour of all time, which reportedly brings economic boosts wherever she goes, and causes literal seismic activities from the crowd jumping so much. She’s in Toronto this November and will end the tour in Vancouver the following month. If you haven’t seen her yet, now’s the time to get the tickets… Sooner rather than later, because those things have done nothing but go up in price.
The Eagles Announce Fall Residency Set at Las Vegas’ Sphere
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Words true for Hotel California, and soon to be, the Las Vegas Sphere. The Eagles are the latest band to announce a residency at the new Wonder of the World. Don Henley and the boys will perform eight shows this fall, starting on September 20th. Tickets go on-sale next week.
Facially expressive people are more well-liked, socially successful
If you’re trying to figure out how to get people to like you, maybe you just need to be more expressive. A study done in the UK has found that people who are more facially expressive are more well-liked by others. These animated people are considered more agreeable and extraverted, and even fare better in negotiations if they have an agreeable personality. So, if you’re looking to boost your social skills, try to become the next Jim Carrey… See how that fares for you.
