Do you miss MySpace?
Apparently, it’s coming back! Well, kind of… 27-year-old Tiffany Zhong has spent the last ten years researching social media trends, and that work is now being put into creating a new social media app:
The app already has a waitlist of nearly 400,000 users. Zhong’s goal is to put the ‘social’ back in social media. It resembles a lot of what MySpace used to be, with custom profile pages centred around updating and communicating with friends.
Would you give NoSpace a chance?
Are you tired of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X?
Do you want to fire your smartphone into the sun, or is that just me?
Let me know!

Daily WTF – New Orleans Restaurant Puts Cicada Salad On Menu
How are you with bugs? With spring finally here, the creepy crawlies are out and about, and that includes the return of cicadas. A restaurant in New Orleans has found a way to use the large and loud insects to their advantage: by adding them to the menu! They’ve launched a Cicada Salad. The “Bug Appetit” café inside the Audubon Insectarium is serving them in green salad with apple, almonds, and blueberry vinaigrette. Reports say, depending on how they’re cooked, cicadas can taste like toasted seeds or nuts. It’s on the menu while supplies last.

Milton Public Library announces completion of diversity initiative
It took awhile, but it’s finally complete! Back in 2022, the federal government provided a bunch of local organizations with funding for programs that would involve and assist seniors in the community. The Milton Public Library was on that list, and they received $25,000 to launch the New Horizons for Seniors program. A year later, additional funding was given for the program. Now, the MPL says they have completed the program, and they can now reap its rewards. They’ve put together brochures, tech notes, and updated their webpage with multilingual resources for newcomers. They were able to utilize the skills of local seniors to translate everything needed into six different languages. There are also resources now available in-house at the Main Library.
Shred your documents and raise money for Crime Stoppers!
The Halton Police have sent out a reminder that a shred event is coming up at their headquarters in Oakville. What is a shred event? Well, a few times a year, the HRPS hosts an event that allows people to shred useless and unwanted documents for a small donation. The money raised will support Crime Stoppers of Halton. People don’t realize: Crime Stoppers is a non-profit. It’s not a part of the Halton Police, it’s just (essentially) a charity that works alongside the cops to help solve cases. They need funding to provide their service, and events like these help in that case. The Shred Event is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th. It starts at 9am and runs until 3pm at the Halton Police headquarters.
What is the Meta AI tool? Can you turn it off?
Meta recently launched their new artificial intelligence tool on Facebook and Instagram. It allows users to message with an AI chatbot for free, and is being compared to ChatGPT. A lot of people are confused by it, some are getting used to the tool, and others are kind of just ignoring it. You can’t turn it off, it’s kind of just there… So, make friends with your new AI tool, make good relations, because one day, very soon, that little guy will be taking over the world… And you’ll be wishing you weren’t nicer to our new robot overlord.
Boy, 9, from Derbyshire, wins European gull screeching championship
How are you with impressions? Every year, contests all around the world are held to reward the best impressionists. I’ll never forget finding out that Dolly Parton once entered a Dolly Parton-lookalike contest and placed second! For a nine-year-old boy in England, he had a knack for impersonating a seagull. His parents allowed him to enter the European gull screeching championship. He won! Here’s his impersonation. He even dressed up as a seagull for the event, and was reportedly lunging at every single French fry he could see.
Cicadas are so noisy in a South Carolina county that residents are calling the police
It’s definitely late April as we’re talking A LOT about cicadas this morning. The noisy bugs have emerged down in a South Carolina town, and reports are, the cicadas are so loud this year that people are calling the police. People are asking why there are so many sirens around town, and the officers have to tell these people that it’s actually the cicadas. Look, I have a bone to pick with cicadas. Every year, these guys emerge, and every year, I have to hear people tell me, “Oh, isn’t it wonderful? They only emerge every 17 years, so we’re getting a real treat this year…” As if I don’t remember having the exact same conversation the year previous, and every year previous for my entire life. I did some googling… There are annual cicadas and there are periodical cicadas, and thousands of varieties around the world. So you have ones that come out every year, and then you have the 13/17 year ones, as well. Ultimately, we see these guys every summer… What’s the big deal? Anyway, the more you know! Rant over, and long story short: if you hear cicadas this summer, don’t call the police.
Milan Is Trying to Ban Late-Night Pizza and Ice Cream Sales
If you’re someone who is going out on the weekends, having a few drinks with friends, you might be inclined to get some greasy food after. It’s kind of a tradition, right? Burgers, fries, pizza, anything! It seems Milan is tired of people getting late-night pizza and gelato, as they’re looking to put a ban on sales after midnight. All takeaway food sales will have a curfew if this bill is passed. The reason why: excessive noise. It seems the residents are tired of the late-night hootin’ and hollerin’ done by the pub crawlers after a night out. That makes sense, but when I hear that people can’t eat after midnight, all that tells me is that Milan, Italy… is hiding a Gremlin problem. Which isn’t good! Avoid bright light, don’t get them wet, and don’t eat after midnight… I tell ya, Gremlins would THRIVE in Italy.
