Has your partnered ever pointed something out that you regularly do that you weren’t aware of?
I’m talking about personal ticks or mannerisms, even sayings or phrases that you use often.
Personally, every night before bed, I watch an episode or two of The Simpsons. It’s part of my routine. My wife noticed that before every episode, I’ll say to myself, “oh, this is a good one…” To be fair, THEY’RE ALL GOOD ONES!
I now catch myself whenever I do it, but it still makes her giggle.
Anything like this for you? Any mannerisms of yours that have been called out by your partner – or am I alone in this situation?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Milton Menace face the Burlington Cougars in round one
Playoff hockey is back in Milton! The Menace will take on the Burlington Cougars in round one of the OJHL playoffs. After finishing 2nd in the West Conference, Milton will have home ice advantage against all teams not named the Collingwood Blues (and the Trenton Golden Hawks, who also finished with a higher point total over in the East Conference). What does that mean? It means the Menace will get four potential home games in a seven-game series against the Cougars, including the first game. Game one takes place on Friday, March 8th at the Milton Memorial Arena. Get your tickets now!
Daily WTF – Longest distance game of tug of war
Get ready to heave and/or ho when you hear this one. A group of 100 people participated in the longest distance game of tug of war ever recorded. It was held on a beach in Wales last Friday, and spanned across half a kilometre of land. The game lasted for 1 minute 15 seconds, with rugby player Elinor Snowsill captaining the winning team. Time to get a game going on Milton’s Main Street. We just need 100 people to line up with a long rope from St. Paul’s United Church to Troy’s Diner… No problem!
Annual International Women’s Day march being held at Milton’s Town Hall
A big part of the show today will focus on International Women’s Day. It’s an important day to focus on the achievements of women, both in the community and around the world, as well as strive for gender parity. We’ll be playing past interviews with local leaders that have touched on what the day means to them. There is a flag raising and march happening this morning at Town Hall. It starts at 10am, with the marchers going down Main Street and back to Hugh Foster Hall. In past years they’ve even had hot chocolate!
Daily Did You Know – Want to be active? Town of Milton preparing spring programming
If you’re looking forward to the official start of spring, why not also get active through the many programming opportunities offered by the Town of Milton! Viewing for programs start next week, with registration beginning the week after. Join a team, make some friends, learn a new athletic skill – the world is your oyster, and it’s time to shuck the dang thing this spring.
One more reminder: Clocks go ahead this weekend
If you’re enjoying these 6:43am sunrises – get ready for those to go away for a little bit. Daylight Savings Time kicks in on Sunday at 2am. The clocks SPRING forward in March, meaning we lose an hour of sleep overnight. Sunrises will be later – which is not fun for morning show hosts who wake up at 4am. However, the sun will set an hour later! Sunset is expected for 6:18pm tonight, which means come Sunday, it’ll be more like 7:22ish. The days will get longer and longer until the start of summer, which will be the peak. Everything is downhill after that, as the nights will start to get longer. Clocks then fall back an hour on Sunday, November 3rd.
The Oscars are this weekend – here’s what you need to know
This weekend is like the Super Bowl for cinephiles. The Oscars are being held on Sunday. It’s being hosted again by Jimmy Kimmel. Will he be slapped on stage? It didn’t happen last year, so probably not this year either. Christopher Nolan is the talk of the weekend, with his film Oppenheimer nominated for 13 awards. They’re the favourites for a lot of the categories, having done very well for themselves at other award shows leading up to this weekend. The show starts at 7pm on Sunday, March 10th. Settle in with the family, pick who you think will win, and see if anything chaotic happens… Always a fun time.
Bald eagle nest found in Toronto for 1st time in recorded history, conservation authority says
For the first time in recorded history, a bald eagle nest was found in Toronto. The famously American bird is no stranger to Canada, it’s not like they have to go through customs or anything. But, they’re not known to be in this particular area of Ontario. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority says bald eagle numbers are on the rise after almost going extinct in the 60s. Now that conservation efforts are proving fruitful, we could see them start to pop up around the GTA more often. What does that mean? Well, don’t be alarmed if you see a wild bald eagle here in Milton. It’ll probably happen eventually!
Eating refined carbs may make you appear uglier!
Your diet could be having a negative effect on how other people see you. A study out of France found that eating high-glycemic foods can lower your attractiveness rating. What does that mean? Eating foods like pastries, cookies, and chips may lead to others seeing you as ugly! And it’s not even a slow process! Researchers had people eat breakfast, with random participants eating either a high or low glycemic breakfast. Just two hours later, they all rated each other. Without fail, the people who hate the high glycemic breakfast rated poorly. Oof! More work will continue on the matter, but it seems like those snacks and desserts might be doing more harm than you think, in less time than you think!
