What time do you normally eat breakfast?
It turns out, breakfast is the most commonly skipped meal of the day. A lot of people find themselves not hungry in the morning, and while experts say that’s fairly normal, they recommend you still eat a full meal anyway.
Breakfast sets you up for the day, and helps eliminate snacking in the evening. Not eating breakfast leads to overeating (and snacking) later in the day. If you’re snacking at night, you might fill up to the point of still being full the following morning – thus continues the cycle.
Do you eat breakfast every morning? What time? I’ll be honest, I usually don’t eat until 2:00 p.m.! Yeah, I need to work on that…
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Warm temperatures and lots of rain this time of year can be dangerous
We might get the odd snowfall, but spring has essentially started in and around Milton. As temperatures continue to warm up, and any remaining snow and ice melts, it’s important to stay away from bodies of water. With consistent rainfall and warm temperatures, water levels are expected to rise. This poses risks to anyone near lakes, rivers, ponds, etc. Be smart and stay safe!
Daily WTF – Aquarium seeks help naming blue penguin hatchling
An aquarium in New Jersey recently announced the birth of a blue penguin. The little chick hatched around Valentine’s Day, and so they’re looking for love-related names. We’ve got: Lovie, Rose, Valentina, and Venus. The previous two hatchlings were named Bananas Foster and Kiwi. GREAT names for penguins. You can find them at Adventure Aquarium online – where the contest is being held. Deadline is next Tuesday!
Reminder: Clocks go ahead this weekend
If you’re enjoying these 6:44 a.m. sunrises – get ready for those to go away for a little bit. Daylight Savings Time kicks in on Sunday at 2am. The clocks SPRING forward in March, meaning we lose an hour of sleep overnight. Sunrises will be later – which is not fun for morning show hosts who wake up at 4am. However, the sun will set an hour later! Sunset is expected for 6:16pm tonight, which means come Sunday, it’ll be more like 7:25ish. The days will get longer and longer until the start of summer, which will be the peak. Everything is downhill after that, as the nights will start to get longer. Clocks then fall back an hour on Sunday, November 3rd.
Daily Did You Know – Pair of Milton baseball diamonds could have new names soon
Two Milton baseball diamonds could soon be known by different names. The pair of fields at Milton Community Sports Park were the subject of a brief debate at the latest Town Council meeting on Monday. Council then carried the motion that will bring the matter to the public, where you will decide if these two ball diamonds should be named after longtime residents Peter McMullen and Glenn Turner. Both have a long history with baseball in Milton, and Councillor John Challinor wanted them to be recognized in a special way. This will be a first for Milton if approved by the public, which is interesting. We’ll announce when you can provide your feedback.
Milton Menace face the Burlington Cougars in round one
Playoff hockey is back in Milton! The Menace had their best statistical season in franchise history. They still finished only in 2nd in the OJHL West Conference, as they share a conference with the top team in Canada: the Collingwood Blues. If all goes well, the two teams will meet in the conference finals. But, you can’t look past the first round just yet. The Menace will be up against the Burlington Cougars, who they split four games with this past season. Should be a tough match-up, and it’s sweet that it’s a cross-Halton match-up. I remember the Cougars were the first team the Menace played at the Milton Memorial Arena, so it’s always fun when they play in big games. Puck drop for game one is tomorrow night at 7:30pm at the Madhouse in Milton. Get your tickets!
Terry Fox Foundation teams up with Ryan Reynolds to launch limited-edition shirt in support of 44th annual Terry Fox Run
Ryan Reynolds is bringing back his partnership with the Terry Fox Foundation. This is something he did last year, and he’s hoping the support continues. The two have released a limited-edition Terry Fox Run shirt. Reynolds said that, as a Canadian, he grew up taking part in the Terry Fox Run and his proud to continue the tradition to this day. He’s a big time movie star and entrepreneur, his wife is best friends with Taylor Swift, it’s kind of a big deal that Terry Fox is being broadcast on such a big platform. The shirts range in price from $25 – $40, depending on the style you want. I bought mine this morning – $7 shipping, not bad! All money raised will support the Terry Fox Foundation as they continue to take on cancer.
Redditor shares a map of the tallest building projects in the GTA, separated by ward
If you’ve ever wondered, “What’s the tallest building being built in the GTA?” Someone has provided the answer for you! You can find the tallest project in Milton, which no surprise, is the Thompson buildings. Standing at 27, 29, and 31-storeys tall, each will make up the three tallest buildings in town. The interactive map shows each ward/municipality in the GTA, and where each building project will be constructed. Pretty neat stuff, and an easy way to kill an hour at work this morning… I mean, five minutes, top… Definitely not an hour!
U.S. Air Force employee charged with disclosing classified information on dating website
Online dating can be hard. They say there are other fish in the sea, but when there are so many fish, you’d expect the fishing part to be easy. Surprise: it’s not! It’s been especially hard for one employee of the US Air Force who felt it was appropriate to disclose classified information to a woman on he met online. The subject matter was regarding Russia-Ukraine, and the woman he was talking to was in Ukraine. 63-year-old David Franklin Slater is in court on a three-count federal indictment. He could face 30-years in prison if found guilty on each charge. This man should’ve listened to the wise words of Meatloaf.
Millennials are set to be the “richest generation in history” — but experts say there’s a huge catch
If you are a millennial who has found themselves priced out of the local real estate market, and you’re struggling to get by having to live paycheck-to-paycheck, experts say “don’t worry!” You see, millennials are reportedly set to become the richest generation in history. Thing is, it won’t be from good ol’ hard work like they’re told to do. It won’t be because their bosses have finally decided that raises are, in fact, better than monthly pizza parties. It won’t even be because they’ll win the lottery. The reason why they’ll be the richest yet: inheritance. Baby boomers were able to buy their homes for relatively cheap, accrue equity, save their earnings, and sell their homes for big returns. As boomers settle into retirement now, we’re seeing their numbers get smaller and smaller. The money they saved is now being spread amongst the younger generations, which means millennials and Gen Zers are about to get lots in inheritance. The sad part: you have to wait for your parents to die. I think most people would prefer the “no-money/with-parents” option here.
Biggest dining turnoff? It’s not double-dipping or licking your fingers
If you’re getting ready for a big first date tonight, you might want to watch your behaviour at the dinner table. A recent study found the biggest dining turnoff. The list included licking your fingers, double-dipping, and chewing with your mouth open. The biggest turnoff, though? Being rude to the servers. 60% of people said they can’t stand people who are rude to the waiters. Other “icks” include spitting food back out onto the plate and putting ketchup on everything. What’s your biggest dining ick/turnoff?
