Are you thinking about Valentine’s Day yet?
On his podcast, Travis Kelce admitted that he’s been “feeling the pressure” to find the best V-Day gift for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Co-host, and brother, Jason Kelce says he always leaves it last minute “like every other man.”
They agreed that chocolate and flowers never fail, even at the last minute.
Where are you when it comes to Valentine’s Day?
Are you a big planner?
Have you started that planning – or are you like the Kelce boys and you just leave it until the last minute?

ICYMI – Milton’s Glen Eden officially opens for the season

Daily WTF – Wayne State wants to revive these 10 words in 2024
An American college is hoping that ten old, unused words are brought back into the mainstream. We talk a lot about new slang, including a teacher BANNING Gen Z slang from their classroom, but what about some forgotten words? The list of ten includes Blatherskite, which means “A person who talks at great length without making much sense.” Also on the list, Pawky: “Having a mocking or cynical sense of humor.” And my absolute favourite and should be used every day online, Rawgabbit: “A person who speaks confidently but ignorantly.” Great word! Halton hospital receives praise for work in surgical care
Praise be to one of our local hospitals. Oakville Trafalgar is receiving ‘Meritorious’ status from American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. This is for their work in Surgical Patient Care. My friend had surgery there, and they took VERY GOOD care of her. Based on their experience alone, highly recommend. Read more here…
Hike for Hospice fundraiser returning for another year
I’ve been working at this radio station for more than five years now, and one of my favourite events every year is Hike for Hospice. The people at Townsend Smith are doing a great job at bringing palliative care to North Halton. They have their location, they just need to pull a ‘Field of Dreams’ and build it. A hospice is an important service, and Halton Hills/Milton are getting closer and closer to having one with every donation. If you want to participate, all you have to do is raise money and then take part in a 5km trek. Could be a walk, hike, run or bike – your choice! Read more here…
IKEA is recalling ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger
This one is important for those who shop at IKEA or have recently received holiday gifts from IKEA. A charging cable is being recalled after being labelled a burn and shock hazard. A lot of people charge their electronics while they sleep, which means this cable is just THAT much more dangerous. Read more here…
Cineplex is offering FREE popcorn across Canada
Hooray for National Popcorn Day! For one day only (Friday, January 19th), Cineplex locations will offer free popcorn to moviegoers across Canada. January is famously a dead period for new releases, but December is typically a great month for movies and there should still be some great flicks available. My wife and I went to see ‘The Boy and the Heron’ last month, which was fantastic and just won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Movie of 2023. Don’t forget, let’s all go to the lobby and get ourselves some snacks! I also highly recommend signing up for CineClub. My wife and I see A LOT of movies, and it’s real handy. A Woman’s Ex-Boyfriend Died And Left Her $700,000 In His Will Despite Having A Pregnant Wife
Talk about a spicy headline! I want to know your thoughts on this matter. So, woman dates man for 20 years. They break-up after he was found cheating and they go their separate ways. Three years later, she receives a letter from him apologizing for how he treated her and wishing her and her family well. He died, and his will left behind $700,000 for her. Thing is – buddy boy had a pregnant wife and the wife wants the woman to give back the money. Should she? I don’t know if I could if I was her, but also, $700,000 is life changing money to me. What about you? Read more here…
How often should you change your underwear? The answer may surprise you
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been told that you should change your underwear AT LEAST once a day. I feel like that’s commonplace. You should obviously change it more if you exercise and whatnot, but once a day (I feel like) is the bare minimum. According to dermatologists, that’s not the case! Experts say men may be able to get away with changing their underwear every OTHER day – longer if it’s loose fitting like boxers. It’s not a given, but they say it’s possible. I’ll simply ask, how does that news make you feel? Yeah, I’ll stick to my routine. Read more here…
Bride sparks fierce debate over who should pay for bridesmaid dresses
For the married folk, did you pay for your wedding party’s outfits? Brides, did you pay for the dresses? Grooms, did you pay for the suits/tuxes? This has sparked heavy discussion after a woman asked her bridesmaids to pay for their own dresses. They’d cost them about $250, and according to her, the women were furious about the price. The bride said that for every wedding that she’s attended as a bridesmaid, she has always paid the few hundred dollars for the dress, make-up and hair. She assumed this was standard practice. I will say, for my wedding in 2022, I did buy my groomsmen their suits. But that’s also because I felt bad – and I know that’s a ridiculous way to feel! What do you think? Should the bridesmaids be the ones paying for their dresses, or does that fee fall on the happy couple? Read more here…
