The clocks will “spring” forward this weekend.
Daylight saving time (DST) kicks in at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 12th, giving us an extra hour of sunlight.
Most cell phones and devices that are connected to the internet or data service will change the time automatically, but other clocks may need to be changed manually.
Canada has been following DST since 1908. Some areas in Canada do not follow the time change. The territory of Yukon, most of Saskatchewan, some parts of Quebec, Southampton Island in Nunavut, select areas in British Columbia, and parts of northwestern Ontario stay on standard time all year. It has been proposed for Ontario to get rid of DST, but it has not been finalized yet as the legislation can only come into effect if Quebec and New York do the same.
Account for the time change and make sure to get your sleep!
