Run For Milton is back in town this weekend!
On Sunday, October 16th, Mercy 4 Mankind, a subsidiary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), are bringing back the annual fundraiser. It was put on-hold during the pandemic.
In December 2019, the organization was able to provide a $10,000 cheque to the Milton District Hospital Foundation with the funds raised at the Run For Milton event. It’s a part of a larger 10-year, $100,000 donation.
Director of Advocacy and Public Relations with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Maqbool Sheikh, says that while they hold these events all across the country, they find that one thing ties the communities together: healthcare.
He adds that while the pandemic put their fundraising on-hold, the organization seems to still be on track to meet its goal of $100,000 over 10-years.
There will be a one-kilometre ‘Fun Walk’ as well as a timed five-kilometre run.
Registration deadline is Saturday, October 15th at 11:59 p.m.
It will start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 16th with opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. Run For Milton will be held outside of the Mattamy National Cycling Centre.
