Sustainable Milton and Friday’s for Future Milton are holding a protest today.
It’s in reaction to Bill 229 being read a third time this week. In a release, Sustainable Milton says it is against the Bill.
“Much to our dismay, Bill 229, including Schedule 6, passed third reading December 8th. However, it’s never too late to let our MPP, Parm Gill, and the Ontario Government know that we STRONGLY OPPOSE their actions to reduce environmental protections and the control of our Conservation Authorities. This Saturday, December 12, will mark the 5th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. The climate crisis is not going to wait for our governments; food insecurity, wildfires, and extreme weather are REAL.”
Conservation Halton has also been very vocal about the Bill. It sent a letter to the provincial government several weeks ago. Read more on that here.
The physically-distanced protest in support of Ontario’s Conservation Authorities will be at Milton MPP Parm Gill’s office on the southwest corner of Main Street and Ontario Street. It starts at 4:00 p.m..
