Conservation Halton is frustrated with changes to the Conservation Authorities Act that were laid out in the recently announced Ontario Budget.
The letter addressed to the Premier says proposed amendments will make it harder to ensure that both the public and property are safe from natural hazards, as well as protect Ontario’s environment. They want to see changes made to the amendments.
“We respectfully request [Premier Doug Ford] withdraw Schedule 6 from Bill 229 until a more thorough analysis of the appropriate solutions can take place, with more clarity on what problems were identified through the consultation process,” collectively stated the CH Board of Directors and Halton Mayors.
In a release, Conservation Halton adds that they are looking forward to “engaging in constructive dialogue with Premier Ford and Minister Yurek and working with the Province to identify meaningful solutions to address actual and perceived issues.”
