A major announcement was made by the Ontario Premier this afternoon.
Halton and its four municipalities will move into the Red ‘Control’ Zone, effective Monday, November 16th at 12:01 a.m.. Halton, York, and Hamilton will be joining Toronto and Peel in the zone.
What comes with the move is new restrictions for gatherings, indoor dining and gyms. It was advised by the Ontario Health Minister, Christine Elliott, to only leave your home for the essentials.
Premier Ford even warned of a second lockdown, saying that Ontario is looking “down the barrel.”
Ontario has repeatedly reported record daily highs of new COVID-19 cases over the last few months. Thursday’s total was a reported 1,575 new cases. Today (Friday, November 13th), Ontario reported another 1396 new cases.
Halton has 57 new cases, and one new death. The region is up to 44 deaths and 486 active cases.
Milton has 17 new cases and 134 active cases.
