How can we continue to protest safely during a pandemic?
Fridays For Future Toronto and Sustainable Milton organized a shoe strike at St. Paul’s United Church on Friday.
A member of Fridays For Future Toronto, Zoha Naghar, says COVID-19 won’t stop them.
Naghar adds that the planet has less than 10-years before climate change becomes irreversible. Many of the signs that were placed with the shoes today demanded action. She feels that we need to act now in order for the younger generations, like herself, to have a future.
If the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Naghar says residents can expect events similar to the shoe strike to continue in, and around, Milton.
Shoes were volunteered throughout the week by Milton residents. If residents volunteered their shoes and weren’t able to pick them up on Friday, Sustainable Milton says they can be picked up at the Green Eatery at 20 Martin Street in Milton between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26th. Otherwise, they will be donated to Halton Women’s Place and Southside@Main.
