Food4Kids Halton is teaming up with Tim Hortons for the restaurant’s Smile Cookie Campaign.
Last year, the organization made a pitch to Tim Hortons franchise owners to have them be the charity of choice for the Campaign. The owners in Oakville chose them and it was a major success.
Food4Kids Halton’s Executive Director Gayle Kabbash talks about the growth from last year’s campaign to this year.
2020 hasn’t been an easy year for Food4Kids Halton. The organization relies heavily on funding and food drives in order to be able to feed children and families across the region. A lot of events were cancelled when the pandemic began. They even had to make the switch from food donations to grocery store gift cards to be able to give families what they needed to eat dinner.
With last year raising over $60,000 in Oakville, Kabbash is hoping the additional funding from the Milton and Hornby locations will be a major difference as they head into the school year.
Food4Kids Halton are prepping for the school year to begin. Kabbash says they will be using September to allow schools to settle into the new year and they will begin their regular operations in October. The delay gives them time to communicate with the schools to ensure their lists of students in-need are accurate, as well as train and prepare volunteers to be ready for new and old procedures.
If you’re looking to help Food4Kids Halton, make sure to buy a Smile Cookie during the Campaign. It kicks off on Monday, September 14th and will run until Sunday, September 20th. Food4Kids Halton will have more information on their website in the coming days.
