We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were three cases across Halton over the long weekend. One of them involved Milton:
On Friday, February 18th, just after 3:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Postmaster Drive and Dundas Street West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 59-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.On Sunday, February 20th, just after 1:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Cornwall Road and Chartwell Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Oakville man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.On Monday, February 21st, just after 7:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of James Snow Parkway and Main Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 70-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
