Schools across Ontario are now required to monitor and report student and staff absences to the Ministry of Education, as well as any potential school closures.
The Ministry of Education also requires schools to report when student absence rates rise to a level of 30% or more to their local Public Health Unit.
If the level of absences reaches 30% or more, a letter will be sent home to families at that school.
As of today, 3 schools across Ontario are closed, compared to the 7 schools being reported as closed in the previous week.
There’s currently one school in Milton reporting an absentee rate of above 30%.
