
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show two additional deaths in the totals. One of the deaths is a Burlington death, giving the city 84 deaths total. The other is an Oakville resident, giving the town 78 deaths. Milton is at 52 deaths. Halton Hills is at 62. Halton is now at 276 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are 295 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 39,248. With 37,609 resolved cases and 276 deaths, Halton is at 1363 active cases, 129 less than Thursday. The Region says that of the 39,248 total cases, 38,404 were confirmed positive while 844 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we had 74 new cases. That brings us to 11,029 total cases. With 10,623 resolved cases and 52 deaths, Milton is at 354 active cases, 24 less than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 11,029 total cases, 10,747 were confirmed positive while 282 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is reporting variant case totals. It says that 12,498 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 3646 total variant cases.
An outbreak at a congregate living facility has been closed. It was labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 103’. It was first declared on Monday, January 10th. There were two cases reported. They were never specified. It closed on Thursday, January 20th.
An outbreak has been declared at a congregate living facility. It is labelled only as ‘Congregate Living – 80’ on the Halton Region outbreak webpage. There are 127 cases being reported – 54 are non-Halton cases, 66 are residents, two are staff cases, and five unspecified. It was first declared on Thursday, November 4th.
An outbreak has been reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 104’. It was first declared on Tuesday, January 11th. There are currently eight cases being reported. Two are resident cases, one is unspecified, and five are non-Halton cases.
An outbreak has been reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 106’. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 12th. There are currently two cases being reported. One is a non-Halton case, the other is unspecified.
An outbreak has been reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 109’. It was first declared on Friday, January 14th. There are currently five cases being reported. Three are resident cases and two are non-Halton cases.
Another outbreak is now at the Seasons Milton Retirement Communities. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 5th. There are 16 cases currently being reported – seven residents, one staff member, two non-Halton cases, and six that are unspecified.
The Halton Region is reporting an outbreak at Allendale. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 5th. There are 21 cases – ten residents, six non-Halton cases, and five that are unspecified.
And an outbreak has been reported at Martindale Gardens. It has two cases. Both are unspecified. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 19th.
The Region provided the following note regarding the Omicron surge in cases:
- Impact of Omicron surge: The recent surge in Omicron cases means that testing capacity is limited and case, contact, and outbreak management has been modified to focus on high-risk settings. As a result, the number of cases reported in the dashboard is an underestimate of the true number of cases in the community, and outbreaks will be underreported. Data completeness may also be impacted. As the situation evolves, modifications to the dashboard may become necessary to align with the information available given these revised testing and disease management practices.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 1,172,652 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 1,041,035 of the doses were to Halton residents.
466,564 second doses have been administered in Halton. 413,933 of those have been Halton residents.
229,022 additional doses have been administered in Halton. 198,676 of those have been Halton residents.

- 23,096 first doses, 22,527 second doses and 18,701 additional doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,427 first doses, 17,215 second doses and 15,202 additional doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,812 first doses, 24,569 second doses and 21,747 additional doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 118 first doses, three second doses and zero additional doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 88,666 first doses, 113,595 second doses and 114,895 additional doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,424 first doses, 9541 second doses and 6689 additional doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 374,976 first doses, 343,428 second doses and 107,438 additional doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
