
Two Halton residents have reportedly died from COVID-19.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show two additional deaths in the totals. One of the deaths is a Milton death, giving the town 52 deaths total. The other is a Halton Hills resident, giving the town 62 deaths total. Burlington is at 82 deaths. Oakville is at 77. Halton is now at 273 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are 451 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 38,540. With 36,793 resolved cases and 273 deaths, Halton is at 1474 active cases, seven less than Tuesday. The Region says that of the 38,540 total cases, 37,709 were confirmed positive while 831 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we had 180 new cases. That brings us to 10,833 total cases. With 10,432 resolved cases and 52 deaths, Milton is at 349 active cases, 12 more than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 10,833 total cases, 10,555 were confirmed positive while 278 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is reporting variant case totals. It says that 12,391 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 3621 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared at a congregate living facility. It is labelled only as ‘Congregate Living – 80’ on the Halton Region outbreak webpage. There are 125 cases being reported – 55 are non-Halton cases, 64 are residents, two are staff cases, and four unspecified. It was first declared on Thursday, November 4th.
An outbreak has reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 103’. It was first declared on Monday, January 10th. There are currently two cases being reported. They are unspecified.
An outbreak has reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 104’. It was first declared on Tuesday, January 11th. There are currently five cases being reported. Two are resident cases, and three are non-Halton cases.
An outbreak has reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 106’. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 12th. There are currently two cases being reported. One is a non-Halton case, the other is unspecified.
An outbreak has reported at another congregate living facility. This one is labelled as ‘Congregate Living – 109’. It was first declared on Friday, January 14th. There are currently five cases being reported. Three are resident cases and two are non-Halton cases.
Another outbreak is now at the Seasons Milton Retirement Communities. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 5th. There are 16 cases currently being reported – seven residents, one staff member, two non-Halton cases, and six that are unspecified.
The Halton Region is reporting an outbreak at Allendale. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 5th. There are 21 cases – ten residents, six non-Halton cases, and five that are unspecified.
The Region provided the following note regarding the Omicron surge in cases:
- Impact of Omicron surge: The recent surge in Omicron cases means that testing capacity is limited and case, contact, and outbreak management has been modified to focus on high-risk settings. As a result, the number of cases reported in the dashboard is an underestimate of the true number of cases in the community, and outbreaks will be underreported. Data completeness may also be impacted. As the situation evolves, modifications to the dashboard may become necessary to align with the information available given these revised testing and disease management practices.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 1,159,001 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 1,028,952 of the doses were to Halton residents.
466,205 second doses have been administered in Halton. 413,667 of those have been Halton residents.
216,069 additional doses have been administered in Halton. 187,091 of those have been Halton residents.

The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 88,524 first doses, 113,356 second doses and 111,306 additional doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,415 first doses, 9540 second doses and 6530 additional doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 374,788 first doses, 343,309 second doses and 98,233 additional doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
