The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston.
It has been confined to the OB-GYN Clinic.
The health unit’s website shows the outbreak was declared last Friday (jan 7), but lists zero cases amongst patients and staff.
The health unit’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Charles Gardner, says the lack of numbers is because the website hasn’t been completely updated, but there is an outbreak.
The health unit has also stopped breaking down the the number of cases by municipality on their website because, due to the province limiting testing, Dr Gardner says they can’t be certain about actual transmission in the community.
There are four other institutional outbreaks in South Simcoe including Kingsmere Retirement Residence and Good Samaritan Seniors Complex in Alliston and Bradford Valley Care Community, The Elden Of Bradford.
