The Milton Menace saw their weekend of games postponed after what the team’s President calls “a clerical error.”
In a Twitter thread ahead of Friday night’s game, Jason Tryfon issued a statement saying that “a couple of members on our team were incorrectly deemed to be high close contact by attendees at one of our games.” He adds that while they were working to solve the issue, the game on Friday had been postponed.
“While we could have likely played, I wanted to go above and beyond for our players, staff, fans, community and league,” Tryfon continues. He then thanks the Collingwood Blues for their cooperation and support.
Due to a lack of communication with Halton Region Public Health, the Milton Menace were also forced to postpone Saturday’s game with the Oakville Blades, a game that was meant to feature a jersey retirement for the Oakville team. Tryfon says in a tweet that the Menace franchise would like to find a way to “chip in as a club” for the ceremony as a measure of good faith.
