We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last weekend. Four of them involved Milton:
On Saturday, December 11th, just before 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Darkwood Road and 10 Side Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Catharines man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On December 11, 2021, just after 9:30 pm, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bronte Street South and Laurier Avenue in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, December 12th, just before 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Mountainside Drive and Guelph Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, December 12th, just before 6:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Parkhill Drive and James Snow Parkway North in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old Brampton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, December 13th, just after 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maple Avenue and Main Street East in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
