We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton last weekend. Two of them involved Milton:
On Friday, December 3rd, just before 3:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queen Elizabeth Way and Third Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Hamilton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, December 3rd, just before 6:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Lakeshore Road East and Reynolds Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, December 4th, just before 2:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Shore Boulevard East and Maple Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Hamilton man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, December 5th, just before 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of James Snow Parkway and Britannia Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 51-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, December 5th, just before 1:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Bronte Road and Upper Middle Road West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 60-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, December 5th, just after 6:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Eighth Line and Dundas Street East in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, December 5th, just after 10:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Line and 20 Side Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 57-year-old Fergus woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
