The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has released the latest impaired driving charges.
There were seven cases of impaired driving around Halton last week – one involved Milton:
On Sunday, November 28th, just after 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fairwood Place East and Lasalle Park Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, November 29th, just after 2:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Queen Street and Meadvale Road in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Scarborough man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Monday, November 29th, just before 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Eighth Line and No 5 Sideroad in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 19-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Monday, November 29th, just before 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Old Abbey Lane and Priory Court in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 30th, just after 1:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Joan Drive and Kingswood Place in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 30th, just before 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Highway 7 and 6th Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 55-year-old Acton woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 1st, just after 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 7 and 22 Side Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Acton woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
