Health Canada has approved booster shots of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for all Canadians over the age of 18.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization has recommended boosters for several high risk groups including:
- Individuals aged 70 and over
- Healthcare workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings
- Those who received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine
- First Nations, Inuit and Métis adults and their non-Indigenous household members
Those eligible in South Simcoe can book their appointments now for clinics opening November 15.
Booster shots will also be available at select pharmacies, the GO-VAXX bus mobile clinics and some primary care providers.
