This week is Crime Prevention Week.
Some residents reached out to Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Constable Ryan Anderson to ask him about the annual week. He says it’s about providing tips for residents to follow in order to not be the next victim of a crime. That includes incorporating what he calls ‘the 9pm check’ to your nightly routine.
Another tip that Constable Anderson shares is to register your bike. He says many people don’t think about doing it until after their bike is stolen. The HRPS recovers a lot of stolen bikes, but if they’re aren’t registered, they can’t return them. Register your bike for free here.
The HRPS is taking this week to share crime prevention tips across all of its social media platforms:
The tip topics include things such as keyless car thefts, online safety for children and teens, and the Halton Police’s new Buy and Sell Safe Zone.
‘Ask a Cop’ will return next week with more of your questions being answered. Reach out if you have any questions that you’d like answered by a local police officer.
