The Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) has announced their commitment to bring two-way all-day GO train service to Milton.
Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca, was in Milton this week to make the announcement. He says, if elected, they will match federal funding to deliver the expanded service every day, from Union through Mississauga to Milton.
“The people of Milton and Mississauga deserve a real plan for more frequent, less congested public transit. They have waited too long for this much needed transit relief.”
This comes after the federal Government announced the same commitment in August.
Under the proposed Ontario Liberal expansion, commuters in Milton and Mississauga would have access to GO trains both ways every 15 minutes during rush hour and every 30 minutes during off-peak hours, including on weekends.
“While Doug Ford is wasting as much as $10 billion on Highway 413, which will provide no relief for commuters and accelerate the climate crisis, Ontario Liberals are offering real transit solutions,” adds Del Duca, while announcing the plan alongside the Party’s fully-nominated team of Mississauga and Milton candidates.
Milton’s candidate for the Ontario Liberal Party, Sameera Ali, says she’s happy to see the commitment from the OLP.
“As the fastest growing municipality in the GTA, and to assist our town’s ongoing employment growth, Milton deserves two-way all-day GO service. I am delighted that getting this done is a top priority for the Ontario Liberal Party!”

*A previous version of this article said the commitment was also proposed by the Ford provincial government. That is incorrect – it was the Trudeau federal government. An edit has been made to reflect that.
