We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were eight cases across Halton last week. One involved Milton:
On Tuesday, November 2nd, just before 5:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Brighton Road and Winston Park Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 2nd, just after 7:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of New Street and Shoreacres Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Stoney Creek woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 2nd, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Chalmers Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 75-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 2nd, just after 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Kingsway Drive and Prince John Circle in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 36-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Wednesday, November 3rd, just after 10:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and the Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 46-year-old Stoney Creek man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, November 4th, just after 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upper Middle Road and Ninth Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, November 4th, just after 9:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Yates Drive in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Milton woman was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Friday, November 5th, just after 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Caroline Street and Drury Lane in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
