We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were three cases across Halton last weekend. Two involved Milton:
On Friday, October 29th, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Highway 7 and 22 Side Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 75-year-old Milton woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, October 30th, just before 9:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Line and 15 Side Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 79-year-old Rockwood man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, October 31th, just after 4:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Speers Road and Fourth Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
