The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
It shows five cases across Halton last week. One involved Milton (shown in bold):
On Tuesday, October 26th, just before 8:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Williamson Court and Augustus Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 61-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, October 26th, just after 11:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Twiss Road and Reid Sideroad in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Cambridge man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, October 27th, just after 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Huntingdon Trail and Kingsway Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, October 28th, just before 8:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Regional Road 25 and 5 Sideroad in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 77-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, October 29th, just before 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Ghent Avenue and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 61-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
