There are over 77,000 students enrolled in schools in both the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
Of those students, 35,000 of them ride the bus.
This is National School Bus Safety Week (Oct 18-22) and Wednesday (oct 20) is School Bus Driver and Bus Monitor Appreciation Day.
For the second year in a row, there will not be any bus safety demonstrations due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Instead, drivers are being reminded to watch for buses and slow down or stop if they have their lights flashing and stop arm extended.
