We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were eight cases across Halton last weekend. One involved Milton:
On Friday, October 8th, just after 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Derry Road East and Eighth Line in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 72-year-old Brampton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, October 8th, just before 7:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Side Road 27 in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Caledon Village woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, October 8th, just before 11:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hager Avenue and Birch Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old Burlington resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, October 9th, just after 3:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Pinegrove Road and Ashbury Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old New Hamburg woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, October 9th, just after 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Street and Todd Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, October 10th, just after 2:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Lakeshore Road West and East Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Brampton resident was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, October 10th, just before 1:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Sutton Drive and Blue Spruce Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 42-year-old Burlington resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, October 11th, just after 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Guelph Line and Lakeshore Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Stoney Creek resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
