It was a pretty quiet day for COVID-19 across Halton, with the only notable thing being that several outbreaks in Milton saw their case numbers increase.
Across Halton, there are 17 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 19,488. With 19,117 resolved cases and 242 deaths, Halton is now at 129 active cases, 12 less cases than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,488 total cases, 18,818 were confirmed positive while 670 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have six new cases. That keeps us at 6238 total cases. With 6141 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 31 active cases, two more cases than Wednesday’s updates. The Region says that of the 6238 total cases, 6003 were confirmed positive while 235 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6537 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2222 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are now 18 reported cases. Two are considered Halton cases. 16 are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton, this time a school. Hawthorne Village Public School has two cases, both Halton cases. The outbreak was declared on Thursday, September 16th.
Another Milton school is now dealing with an outbreak. Irma Coulson Public School has six reported cases, each are Halton Cases. The outbreak was declared on Friday, September 24th.
A third Milton school outbreak has just been declared. This outbreak is at Escarpment View Public School. There are four cases being reported, both are Halton cases. It was first declared on Tuesday, September 28th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 870,893 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 782,848 of the doses were to Halton residents.
439,791 second doses have been administered in Halton. 393,887 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 38,014 first doses and 44,114 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 38,330 first doses and 41,008 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 25,120 first doses and 25,502 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 29,451 first doses and 29,446 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 33,877 first doses and 34,241 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 36,244 first doses and 37,250 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 37,640 first doses and 38,854 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,646 first doses and 37,330 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 35,198 first doses and 34,862 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,712 first doses and 28,362 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,258 first doses and 24,279 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,829 first doses and 22,232 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,235 first doses and 17,010 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,668 first doses and 24,363 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,880 first doses and 938 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 74,515 first doses and 96,137 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,824 first doses and 9993 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 342,763 first doses and 333,661 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 451,518 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.10% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 93,798 fully immunized residents – 0.10% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
There are no new provincial numbers today with it being the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As of Wednesday, September 29th, there have been 585,502 total cases in Ontario.
