A 36-day federal election campaign wound down last night with Justin Trudeau winning a third term as prime minister.
Canadians have chosen another minority Liberal government with the Grits elected or leading in 158 seats commpared to 119 for the Conservatives
The Liberals, NDP and Bloc had modest gains in seats while the Conservative total was stagnant.
The counting isn’t done however, with tight contests in dozens of ridings and almost 800,000 mail-in ballots will be counted starting today.
Locally, Terry Dowdall returns to Ottawa as the MP for Simcoe-Grey.
He won easily last night as Simcoe County remained Tory blue.
Conservatives John Brassard in Barrie-Innisfil and York-Simcoe’s Scott Davidson were the winners in the other South Simcoe ridings.
