We have a lot of new cases across Halton coming out of the weekend, but a lot more resolved cases.
There 68 new cases across the region. The total number of cases is up to 19,239. With 18,852 resolved cases and 241 deaths, Halton is now at 146 active cases, 14 less case than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,239 total cases, 18,585 were confirmed positive while 654 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 16 new cases. That brings us to 6176 total cases. With 6095 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 35 active cases, seven less cases than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6176 total cases, 5946 were confirmed positive while 230 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6489 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2214 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are now ten reported cases. Two are considered Halton cases. Eight are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton, this time a school. Hawthorne Village Public School has two cases, both Halton cases. The outbreak was declared on Thursday, September 16th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 859,687 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 773,764 of the doses were to Halton residents.
432,620 second doses have been administered in Halton. 388,006 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:

- 22,792 first doses and 22,161 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,198 first doses and 16,970 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,641 first doses and 24,316 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,804 first doses and 572 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 71,992 first doses and 91,699 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,772 first doses and 9901 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 341,303 first doses and 331,020 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 444,512 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.09% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 92,171 fully immunized residents – 0.09% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
