The Halton Region has released the latest COVID-19 stats before the weekend.
Across Halton, there 17 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 19,171. With 18,770 resolved cases and 241 deaths, Halton is now at 160 active cases, 11 less case than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,171 total cases, 18,521 were confirmed positive while 650 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have six new cases. That brings us to 6160 total cases. With 6072 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 42 active cases, two less cases than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 6160 total cases, 5931 were confirmed positive while 229 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6472 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2207 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are six reported cases. One is considered a Halton case. Five are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton, this time a school. Hawthorne Village Public School has two cases, both Halton cases. The outbreak was declared on Thursday, September 16th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 857,203 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 771,714 of the doses were to Halton residents.
431,027 second doses have been administered in Halton. 386,659 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 37,138 first doses and 42,616 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 37,695 first doses and 39,707 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 24,549 first doses and 24,525 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 28,916 first doses and 28,559 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 33,373 first doses and 33,468 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 35,801 first doses and 36,550 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 37,262 first doses and 38,206 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,333 first doses and 36,819 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 34,974 first doses and 34,470 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,575 first doses and 28,143 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,175 first doses and 24,142 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,782 first doses and 22,143 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,192 first doses and 16,963 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,637 first doses and 24,307 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,774 first doses and 409 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 71,460 first doses and 90,794 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,760 first doses and 9887 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 340,956 first doses and 330,346 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 443,025 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.08% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 91,810 fully immunized residents – 0.09% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
