
The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
It shows eight cases across Halton over the long weekend – two involved Milton:
On Friday, September 3rd, just before 9:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Hamilton Crescent and Kelly Gate in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Friday, September 3rd, just after 8:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Sixth Line and Upper Middle Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 46-year-old St. Catharines man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, September 4th, just before 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upper Middle Road and Neyagawa Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Brampton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, September 4th, just before 5:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Cornwall Road and Allan Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 80-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, September 4th, just before 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Stratus Drive and Westoak Trails Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 53-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, September 5th, just before 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Third Line and North Service Road West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 64-year-old Woodbridge man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, September 6th, just before 7:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Arrowhead Road and Gamble Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Brampton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, September 7th, just before 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Regional Road 25 and High Point Drive in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 53-year-old Kitchener man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
